watercolor 1 +machine mama+ by sekiraku watercolor 1 +machine mama+ by sekiraku
Medium: watercolor (OMG, my first non-digital work on dA!!!!!)
Original size: 23"x30"

Notes:
AUGH. Okay, so I finished my first-ever painting course a couple weeks ago. The focus of the course was watercolor, and it was a total blast to work with. The painting itself is sort of big and it took me about an HOUR to scan it in and stitch the pieces together in photoshop =_=

Working on this made me realize that I really am quite insane, and probably not a little masochistic.

I'd have never guessed this was watercolor, or that you had to photoshop it back together! It's fantastic!

This is the kind of painting you can stare at for a really long time and still find something new everytime you look back. It was definitely worth the effort!

Really amazed at this work. I haven't seen watercolor like this before in my life. I imagine a lot a layering went in to it?

Do you mind if I host it on my blog?

It is fun to work with but you do have to be patient. I really appreciate that you did it though in Watercolor as opposed to digital. I worked in digital a long time ago and I came back full circle to making things with my hands. I think it's awesome to use the digital works as plans for a final in a traditional medium. To me, that is taking it the notch above.

i cant inmagine the painstaking process of putting this work together especially the countless hours of waiting for the water color to dry. one of the reasons i hate to use water colors is the time. this is amazing. the digitized blocks of color are fantastic and i love the imagery. it reminds me of the japanimation "metropolis."

How did you get the beautiful texturing? Is that from the paper or did you use a graphite layer under the watercolor?

I have a great admiration for those who works with water color... since I often mess them up.
And, being a perfectionist, the toothed wheel is little bit wrong, imo

Excellent use of color, form vs. line, and layering. Spectacular piece. I kinda wish some of the edges were a little harder, maybe that's just me.
